What We Know
The last confirmed sighting of Nelson Paisley was on May 31st, 1969. He was seen wading in the Merced River at Cascades, a stretch of water known for deceptively strong currents, slippery granite, and sudden drop‑offs.
After that moment, Nelson was never seen again.
There is no surviving record of:
- what he was wearing
- whether he was alone
- whether he slipped, fell, or was swept away
- whether a search was conducted
- whether any belongings were recovered
